So I’m nearly 27 years old. You think my skin knows that? Since I hit the age of about 21 my skin has been far from perfect. I think I’m being punished for all those years of pretty much clear skin in my teens. I don’t have horrendous acne by any stretch of the imagination, but I can’t remember the last time I was without some sort of blemish.
Sometimes it gets me down. I’m never without make-up, which I know doesn’t help but for me it just isn’t an option. Saying that, I don’t wear much. I use Clinique foundation, a little bit of cover up on my problem areas, mascara and that’s it.
I got into the really bad habit of just using a facial wipe in the evenings to remove my make up. What can I say I’m lazy. So about 2 months ago I had a skin routine overhall. It was all part of my plan to battle my self esteem issues. Has it worked? Has it heck! This is my current routine:
♥I wash my face morning and evening with a Body Shop Tea Tree facial wash. I have a range at the moment. My favourite is the Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser, but I’ve finished that one and need to use the rest of my tea tree collection up. I mix it up by using the Tea Tree Facial Wash and the Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash.
♥I use Garnier’s Clean and Fresh Toner, again, morning and evening after cleansing.
♥I use St Ives Invigorating Scrub about once a week. I have used this product for years and love it.
♥I use Johnson’s ’24 Hour Moisture’ Moisturiser in the day. This has spf 15 in it. This moisturiser is okay. As soon as it’s finished I plan to buy a more expensive one. I’m a big Clinique fan. Is there a product in their range that you would recommend?
♥I use Witch Blemish Gel after toner and before moisturing at night.
♥I also use Body Shop’s Tea Tree Blemish Gel on actual spots.
♥And the one extravegance in my skin care routine is No 7’s Balanced Results Night Sorbet. This is my favourite product. It feels lovely and my skin definitely looks brighter and healthier since using it.
But as for the rest, it clearly isn’t working for me. I have no less blemishes than I did before I started. And it’s cost me a hell of a lot more money and half of my life. Well okay I’m exagerating there and I am used to the routine now I’m just very frustrated that it isn’t working.
There are a few things I know I need to do – stop eating crap, drink more water and leave my face alone. I’m constantly fiddling with spots and probably make things worse.
So I’m wondering what works for you guys? Do you have a product that you can’t do without? Do you have a skin routine that really works for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
A lovely lady on Twitter mentioned that she uses the oil cleansing method and it has really worked for her. So I’m willing to give that a shot. It’s a bit radical but if it works then I’m up for it.
